Carrick is Scotland based ceramicist - Aimee Holt, an independent maker creating hand thrown and hand built pieces.

The name Carrick, meaning rock, is taken from a coastal area near her hometown in rural Galloway - where much of her inspiration is taken from. Influenced by the simplicity of Japanese forms and finding beauty in imperfection, Carrick celebrates the elemental cracks and crevices that nature offers us. Taking inspiration from the beauty of Scottish land and sea - the roughness of the rocks and rugged coastline inspire the colour, texture and finish of each piece.

Some forms are partly left unglazed, representing the coastal land - the flecks of sand or roughness of the rocks conveying a similar texture and colour.

I like my work to be simple and minimal, yet still be connected to traditional ways of making - where no two pieces are exactly the same.
